xmen : first class trailer

With Captain America just around the corner,we will soon see the latest X-Men.The 3rd movie,in my opinion,ROCKS.The second is the best ever.And Wolverine sucks.This is a X-Men movie without Hugh Jackman,Halle Berry and all the stars.But we do have James McAvoy,who plays *drumroll* young Professor X.So apparently the story will revolve around Prof.X and Magneto's past friendship.With some cool visual effect,Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique,and of course,a Magneto storyline - Magneto is the reason I like X-Men-,I just can't wait anymore,bring it on.

Gaga + Britney

Are you ready for Britney VS GaGa showdown? 

Pretty much after GaGa's supremacy over music,no one could stop her on her way to become this era's Madonna,but we do have hope.2 words,Britney Spears.Gaga put out iconic videos,but no one has overdone Miss Britney Spears in terms of iconic videos(re: Toxic,Oops!,Baby...Hit Me One More Time,Me Against The Music,I'm Slave 4 You).This year,the two will be up for the Grammy performance,Gaga with Born This Way,and Brit with Hold It Against Me.With enormous hype surrounding those two,let's just see who will kill who.

JANET JACKSON'S NUMBER ONES TOUR

Janet is a statement.From Black Cat,Nasty,to If,Janet has proved that flop albums can't stop her from being THE JANET JACKSON.And since the second I saw her at that stage,I kept thinking "She's no female Michael Jackson,she's JANET";"Seriously,who can beat Janet?";and on and on and on.

Janet got me with "All For You",and basically all her singles after All For You,her third latest album "Damita Jo" is a let down,after that came 20 Y.O (I can remember how bad it was),and of course,"Discipline",with Discipline Janet got me once again,Feedback,Rock With You,Luv,and a string of great songs in a great great album,Janet was back,however the public reception wasn't exactly like mine.But since I just saw Janet right in front of my eyes,yes,she's still the greatest.

 

Janet performed quite an opener,about 7-8 of her hits from her early career back to back,from one hits into another,crazy choreography,from Pleasure Principle to ,of course,FEEDBACK.First act,she was in this leather metallic body suit,looking super freaking hot.Her swag is serious like a first day period,you got it right this time Janet.

Second act,the ballads,from my favourite Nothing(which no one knows,so I was kinda ecstatic by myself),to Let's Wait Awhile(The crowd was singing along),to AGAIN(yes,Janet owned this one).Her costume is beautiful,pink gown with the bedazzled shoulder pad,again,she's just beautiful.Her voice is so damn stable,and I love how she just sat down and still totally owned the songs.

 

She went out,the stage was empty,slideshow of janet's photos was on,we were waiting for a quite long time before she emerged with *drumroll* DOESN'T REALLY MATTER,NASTY,ALL FOR YOU,ESCAPADE,and the crowd went crazy.Sadly,she wasn't performed the songs fully,but nevertheless,they sounded amazing,you still can feel her power and energy throughout the entire stadium,Janet is crazy,and in this set,people actually gone mad,and I literally LOST my voice just in 20 minutes.

When you think the climax is over,Janet was back rock and roll rendition of IF,RHYTHM NATION,BLACK CAT,and yes,SCREAM(with Michael Jackson in the big screen,the performance was flawless).If this is sex,this act is the second orgasm in-a-row.And kudos to the band,I was having the time of my life.

And this is not a Janet's concert without Together Again,she left us with Rhythm Nation,and gave us an encore,performing Make Me and Together Again.Together Again is a very special song to me,and to see Janet performing it live,a tear or two is completely understandable,and to make it more dramatic,Janet put the picture of her and Michael in the big screen while performing this song,just imagine how beautiful it is.

 

Although the concert is very minimal,all stripped down,no fancy props,Janet showcased her unbeatable dancing skill,her beautiful vocal,amazing set of costumes,and all the hits back to back.Sadly,pauses were too long,and she didn't perform one of my favourite song ever,I Get Lonely,which I really wanted to hear at the concert.However,who cares,I saw Janet with my own to eyes.

BURLESQUE

Prologue

Let me start with how much I adore Aguilera,and how I end up liking everything with her name on it.Bionic,the worst selling album of her career,is my jam of the year.Her worst single of all time,"Not Myself Tonight" bombed my iTunes since it's released.And for Burlesque,I was eagerly anticipating this movie,knowing that the movie would suck big time.No need to prove,I am her biggest fan,even at the lowest point of her musical career,and probably the lowest point of her entire entertainment career.

Review

Burlesque is a fast-paced musical,and yet,I feel the movie was moving too slow,everything is just carelessly thrown into the plot,some songs are forced to be in the movie,and its' script can't make up for weak storytelling,which is the biggest problem of this musical flick.And of course the film has something to dig for,the musical numbers are amazing,Christina's voice falls right in,and the ending saves the movie from becoming all around cliche.But what kind of idiots come to the movie just to see Christina performing the songs,they want to see the greatness beyond Aguilera,and the expectation will fall short.Cher,playing the host of the burlesque club,has managed to maintain her no-expression face in the entire movie,her botox did all her acting,and she ends up looking like Proffesor Snape from Harry Potter in drag with bad acting although I love her rendition of "You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me",the best song out of the whole movie.However,when you're completely blackout by Cher's acting and Aguilera's mediocre debut,you have Stanley Tucci,channeling his inner gay(hello,devil wears prada).He was completely in flair,and provides quite a surprise.In the end,I don't care about how lame the execution of the movie is,or how Cher's face never change from the beginning to the end,all i want to see is how Christina rocked how 50's costumes,sang her ass out,and danced like she is.Yes,I guess I am one of those idiots.

Verdict

A good musical can incorporate the songs perfectly into the storyline,Burlesque does not.The story itself is weak,the script is even weaker.Christina rocked the house with her voice,I love her Etta James rendition the most.Cher has the best song in the movie,but all I remember is how stiff her acting was.Burlesque,overall,is a mediocre.But if you have time,the movie is quite a ride,enjoy some Christina goodness,and challenge yourself to make a creative Cher jokes.

I've taken my longest "not-updating-this-blog" break.My last post is in April 2010,blogging about the ancient Jeremy Scott's collection.From April 2010,my life has taken a wild ride,I got into university majoring in Architecture,and for the last 6 months,I've been busy with hurricane of ASSignments and crazy schedule.Hell yes,I miss this blog.
Now,the blog is improved(hello new layout) and ready to roll.
